Sara Frischer, PMHNP-BC
I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing psychotherapy and medication management. My philosophy is driven by the belief that no one's mental illness looks alike and shouldn't be treated as such. Because of this I have cultivated a passion for an individualized approach to care. It is my hope that my compassion, empathy and ability to understand the human experience provides a safe and nurturing therapeutic environment for all of my clients. While I am trained in the treatment of a variety of mental health concerns, my specific areas of specialty are treating clients with eating disorders and the psychological effects of trauma.

I am trained in various modalities of therapy including, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Ego State Therapy.

Before entering the mental health field, I spent over a decade working with critically-ill children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as a Registered Nurse. This experience has facilitated an expertise in working with adolescents and their families.

I see clients 12 years and older for psychotherapy, medication management and often, a combination of both. I collaborate closely with members of the client's treatment team to ensure that they are getting the most comprehensive care possible.

Services
Psychiatric Evaluation (90 minutes)
The first time we meet together, I will get a thorough history of your mental health concerns so that we can come up with a collaborative plan and discuss what would be best for your healing journey moving forward.

Psychotherapy (45 minutes)
If you are interested in engaging in psychotherapy we would typically meet for 45 minutes once per week though the cadence of sessions can always be reevaluated in a collaborative manner. We may also decide to consider medication management in our work together or can continue and/or reevaluate medications you are already on. While I am trained in several modalities of therapy, I rarely use a singular approach in my work with clients. Based on your specific needs, I will evaluate what therapeutic techniques will be best for your own healing.
Medication Management (30 minutes)
If you are working with a trusted therapist and/or other members of a treatment team, it may be recommended that you inquire about having additional support in the form of medication management. When providing medication management, it is my hope that we can optimize your treatment, often making engaging in therapy a more effective experience. When working in this capacity, and with your consent, I stay in close collaboration with your therapist and members of your treatment team to ensure that you are receiving thorough and comprehensive treatment.
